Product Overview

Bushnell Forge 8x42

Like many other companies, Bushnell has three optics lines. Their Prime (good), Nitro (better) and Forge (best), so the 8x42 Forge are their flagship model. The 426-foot FOV is very competitive, while a ten-foot close focus is acceptable for an 8x42. Utilizing Bushnell’s “ED Prime” glass, ultrawideband coatings, and PC3 phase and dielectric prism coatings, these achieve a creditable 92% light transmission. Of course, they’re waterproof, offer twist-up eyecups, an accessible diopter, EXO Barrier for lens protection, and a crisp view. While just over 30 ounces, they are well balanced and don’t feel too heavy (someone of diminutive stature might demur). This is a solid performer that will stand comparison with anything in the under $500 range.
