Zeiss Victory SF 10x42

Long known for superlative optics, Zeiss set out to exceed their popular FL series. Let's just say up front: they succeeded. The new design is based on two idea. First is the “ergo-balance” system, which utilizes Schmidt-Pechan prisms and a triple-bridge design to keep the weight near your eyes and minimize arm fatigue.  This works amazingly well; many people exclaim “they are so light!”, even though the 27.8-ounce weight of the 10x42 Victory SF is within 0.5-2.0 ounces of the competition.  Second is the “SmartFocus” concept, which positions the large focus wheel so that it falls naturally under two fingers and focusses fast to follow the birds in flight.  In combination, it’s not mere hype when Zeiss proclaims, “the Victory SF allows for hours of relaxing birding without fatigue.”  A seven-lens eyepiece with field flatteners provides sharp, edge-to-edge focus.  We’d be remiss if we failed to mention the Ultra-FL lens system made from the highest quality fluoride SCHOTT glass offers superb image quality and the 92% light transmission rate gives you the edge at dawn, dusk or on dark days.  The Victory SF 10x42 provides a 393-foot field of view and 4.9-foot close focus, which means they’ll work for butterflies at your feet to cross-canyon elk, and everything in between.
