Nikon Monarch HG 8x30

Nikon's Monarch HG series are Nikon's contenders in the $1000 range, and the 8x30 Monarch HG, an equal member of that team. They all offer metal eyecup construction and pop-up locking diopters in a tough, magnesium alloy chassis.  If you need a lightweight more compact glass, but don’t want to go down to a 25 mm objective and sacrifice the brightness of a 32 mm, an 8x30 is a great option.  It’s nearly a half-pound lighter than the 8x42 HG (which at just under 24 ounces isn’t heavy to start with) and is so compact that a one-hand grip is no strain.  The 8x30 HG has the same 435-foot field of view as the 8x42 HG model, which makes getting on target easy-peasy.  With the edge-to-edge sharpness of field flattener lenses and ED objectives, you won’t feel that you’ve sacrificed full-size performance.
