Nikon's long-standing reputation for quality optics includes the classic Fieldscopes. Never on to rest on their laurels, the latest Monarch Fieldscope 82-EDA w/MEP 20-60x continues to challenge competitors. An Advanced Apochromat Optical System combined with ED glass allows the Monarch Fieldscopes to noticeably exceed their predecessors in contrast and suppression of chromatic aberration. They have added in field-flattener lenses for edge-to-edge sharpness, and the dual-speed helical focus is shared only with the Zeiss Harpia. Some say the Monarch FS 82 feels heavy, though it weighs less than either the 85 mm Vortex Viper or Razor. This is a well-built scope offering fine optics and good value.
