Product Overview
Leica Trinovid HD 8x42
Let's start with some history! This venerable name first appeared in 1958. The word Trinovid was formed from "Tri"(three) and "Novi"(new or novel) innovations, which were (1) true internal focusing, (2) ergonomic construction, and (3) superior optical performance. Six decades later, Leica Camera AG (Wetzlar) introduced the new generation of 42 mm models in the Trinovid HD family. At 25.8 ounces, they’re among the lightest in their class, and the 17 mm eye relief and four click-stop eyecups work great for eyeglass wearers. A 372-foot field of view is more than functional, though it’s not the widest at this price point. The just under six-foot close focus is also good enough for butterfly watching, though some viewers with a narrow IPD may experience some parallax. Overall, the Leica Trinovid 8x42 HD binoculars offer excellent viewing quality for outdoor and wildlife enthusiasts and are among the very best binoculars under $1,000.
