Nikon Monarch HG 10x42

The Nikon Monarch HG 10x42 is aimed squarely at competitors in the $1000 range - and it's right on target! The Monarch HG feature four-position all-metal twist-up eyecup bases with comfortable rubber eyecups. There is ample eye relief for eyeglass wearers, and the pop-up locking diopter ring stays put. The wide (for a 10x) field of view of 362' at 1000 yards makes it easy to get on a target and stay on it. Some of us at CMBO aren’t fans of objective lens covers; they suffer from the basic flaw that you can't see through them! Yet manufacturers continue to find imaginative ways to tether them to the bins.  So, I was put off when I saw the rubber tabs attaching the lens covers to the Monarch HGs, thinking “those won’t last a month, and then where will you be?” , however, they hang out of the way, don’t flop into your field of view, and Nikon thoughtfully give you the option and easy directions, for removing the tethered covers and replacing them with the included plain rubber objective end bumpers.
