Celestron's Trailseeker series provides a step up from the entry level Nature DX, but still at prices that won't break the bank. They offer more than you'd expect; yes, of course waterproof, fogproof construction, objective and ocular covers, case, strap, & microfiber lens cloth. But a magnesium alloy chassis at just 16 ounces is unexpected at a mere $219.95, as are a 6.5' close focus and an excellent 409' field of view. The Phase-coated BaK-4 prisms increase light transmission enough that, to my eyes, the 8x32 Trailseeker seems brighter or sharper than the 8x42 Nature DX. It's worth a look if you're in the market for a compact binocular.
